OUR EARLY LEARNING

The Nest - For Our Nursery Children

It can be an emotional time when considering placing your baby in childcare. You can rest assured however that in The Nest, your precious baby will be exceptionally cared for by our warm and experienced staff that will gently nurture your baby.

The Nest is a happy and wondrous place for inquisitive babies to discover their new world. The babies are engaged and stimulated through play with classic and modern resources; music, colour and experiences that meet their developmental needs. For rejuvenating, the separate cot spaces along with relaxation music provides a sanctuary for peaceful sleep.

Positive and encouraging language is used to communicate with your baby and plenty of cuddles ensure your baby's emotional wellbeing is a priority. The Nest has an open-door policy welcoming parental phone check-ins, visits and breastfeeding mothers. It is not unusual for our directors and senior management to be found helping out in The Nest supporting a loving environment where babies feel safe, content and secure.

The Chicks - Our Toddlers

Toddlers are bursting with enthusiasm, curiosity and energy. In The Chicks we cater for everything your active toddler needs to explore the world around them in a safe and rich environment.

We provide the kind of play essential for developing one of the most amazing gifts of childhood: imagination. The visual arts, free and pretend play with a vast array of stimulus, picture storybooks, games, singing, dancing, puppets, outdoor climbing, crawling, jumping, hiding, water and sand play are just some of the creative activities on offer.

The Chicks are encouraged and supported to increase their self-awareness, self-recognition and independence. We focus on their social, emotional and physical growth. When your toddler displays signs of readiness we are happy to commence or assist with toilet training.

Our staff is equipped to calm even the most challenging situation, such as a toddler tantrum or separation anxiety, by providing consistent and caring guidance and effective methods of communication.

The Huddle - Pre-Kinder and Junior Kinder

In The Huddle your child will begin to form the foundation for a lifetime love of learning. Young learners hungry for stimulus, participate in developmentally appropriate learning opportunities. To meet individual needs, staff observantly support each child's prior knowledge, skills, attitude, learning pace and style, personal traits, interests and plan accordingly.

Learning in The Huddle is wrapped up in a whole lot of fun. Social interactions, playing and co-operative learning with friends is so much fun that the children don’t even realise that they are, in fact, learning and developing! To make sense of themselves and how they fit in to their world, children are immersed in a multitude of creative pursuits to enrich their language, socialisation, problem solving, cognitive and motor skills.

Early learning enrichment in the language arts enhances reading, writing, drawing and speaking skills. Children learn to form and express their own ideas, thoughts and feelings ‘in’ and ‘through’ the use of painting and drawing, molding and sculpture, sticking and pasting, picture storybooks, dramatic play and dress ups, puppetry, storytelling, construction and building blocks, movement, singing and dancing. Incursion, excursions and outdoor play are built into and enhance the carefully planned educational programs on offer throughout the year.

The Colony - Kinder Program

The Colony aims to prepare children to make a smooth transition from kindergarten to school. Developing responsibility and independence, problem solving skills, building self-confidence and a feeling of self-worth aids children being sure of themselves to cope with new situations.

In The Colony qualified staff plan quality programs that are relevant to the individual child's interests, his/her family, the local community and culture. The joy of learning and almost all experiences, from our Pre-Kinder and Junior Kinder Programs, continues on. The Colony promotes social, physical, emotional, linguistic and cognitive growth ‘in’ and ‘through’ focusing on language and literacy, the visual arts and crafts, music, singing and dance, stories, mathematics, science, social studies, writing and reading, games, indoor and outdoor play.

Friendships, effective communication skills, respecting other people's ideas, co-operation and socialisation are also learning outcomes in our kindergarten program. Early learning in the early years matters. Let The Colony help make a positive difference and lay the foundation for your child’s happy future.
