Physical Development of Babies

Developmental milestones occur for children mostly in their first year – they learn and grow so much!

Through their regular daily routine Babies build muscle and get mobile first by pushing up and rolling and later by crawling, scooting and walking.

The Babies in the Nest show great enjoyment in being outside and continue to show how the activities provided allow for them to cruise and walk sideways and may help them stand without support and even take steps without support.

These activities lead to independent walking, gathering objects off the ground and returning to a standing position.

At Penguin Childcare, Educators observe the Babies and support this learning and development by providing them with further activities such as outside play, ball skills, obstacle course, stepping stones, bubbles and sand pit activities; to help extend and move them forward.
